Safari Description
This five day safari begins in Windhoek, where you will depart by plane early in the morning to fly to Sossusvlei - home to the highest sand dunes in the world. From there you will follow the Skeleton Coast via Conception Bay, to the Huab Valley. Continuing up the coast you will then proceed to the Kunene River, which forms the northern border of Namibia, and you will then fly to a lodge outside the Etosha National Park. Your Namibian wildlife safari will end off in Windhoek, the vibrant capital city of Namibia.

Itinerary
Day 1: Windhoek, Sussusvlei, Conception Bay, Swakopmund, Cape Cross, Huab River Valley
We meet at Eros Airport in Windhoek for an early morning flight to Sossusvlei in the Namib Naukluft Park. Sossusvlei is said to have the highest dunes in the world, and the view of the shadow-lined dunes from the air is spectacular. On landing at Sesriem, we will enjoy a drive into the dunes where the fit and brave traveller can choose to climb the dunes. We then fly along the coast via Conception Bay towards Swakopmund. The flight includes an aerial view of the famous Eduard Bohlen shipwreck at Conception Bay. After landing and refuelling at Swakopmund, we fly north along the Skeleton Coast past Cape Cross seal colony for a picnic lunch near the beach. We then fly over the desert to the Ugab formations, which is a nearly lifeless 'moon landscape' of black ridges that stand out in stark contrast to the white desert floor. Our final stop for the day on this Namibian desert tour is Kuidas Camp in the Huab River Valley, where we stay for the night. Here you can explore the ancient rock paintings, and enjoy a delicious dinner at camp.

Day 2: Huab River, Terrace Bay, Hoarusib Valley
After breakfast, take a drive to explore the colourful red lava and yellow sandstone of the Huab River environs. The area offers a wide diversity of flora and fauna, including the Welwitschia Mirabilis, a tree that has been dwarfed by the rigours of the encroaching desert climate. We have lunch at Kuidas Camp before flying along the coast to Terrace Bay in the Skeleton Coast Park. Prominent shipwrecks seen on our Skeleton Coast safaris include the Montrose and Henrietta. At the coast we explore the roaring dunes by Land Rover, which is always one of the most thrilling highlights of the day. We also visit the beach with its profusion of multi-coloured pebbles consisting of agate, lava, granite and quartz. There are also old bleached whale bones scattered along the beach above the high tide mark. We then continue on to the Purros Camp in the Hoarusib Valley in the Kunene Region, where we stay for the night.

Day 3: Hoarusib Valley, Skeleton Coast, Hartmann Valley, Kunene River
After breakfast we take a scenic drive along the Hoarusib Valley to visit a Himba settlement, and possibly come across the elusive desert-dwelling elephant that frequent this valley. We then fly along the Skeleton Coast to the Kunene River that borders Angola. Highlights include the Kaiu Maru shipwreck and pieces from old sailing vessels. From the airfield we take a scenic drive to our lunch site, the Namibian desert tour then continues through the mountains and dunes of the Hartmann Valley, reaching the Kunene River Camp in the late afternoon.

Day 4: Kunene River, Etosha National Park
We start the morning with a boat trip on the Kunene River which flows through scenic desert landscape, observing a huge array of aquatic, forest and desert bird species and possibly some crocodiles. After lunch at camp, we fly directly from the Kunene River to the eastern side of the Etosha National Park, where we spend the night at a lodge outside the park.

Day 5: Etosha National Park, Windhoek
After a delicious breakfast we drive/fly into the park for a game drive. Wildlife congregates in spectacular numbers around water holes and springs, especially during the dry season from June to December. Animals such as lion and steenbok may be found in specific areas, while others such as springbok, eland, zebra, wildebeest and elephant wander all over in search of grazing. We fly back to Windhoek in the afternoon to ensure that we land before dark.

Whether you prefer dune exploring or wildlife viewing, or simply love experiencing the wonders of one of Africa's most beautiful countries, our African safari in scenic Namibia is sure to offer the adventure of a lifetime!
